Maths
Maths is an inspiring and enjoyable subject that will equip our students with life skills, including problem-solving and decision-making, these are valued across employment sectors. We offer accredited NCFE / Pearson Functional Skills Qualifications in Maths from Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA), Entry Levels through to Level 2.
Programme of study
Course Outline
Maths at Craftworks supports students to build confidence with practical, everyday maths. Students develop skills in areas such as number, money, time, measurement, problem-solving and decision-making through real-life tasks and personalised learning.
Students work at a level that is right for their individual starting point. Depending on their pathway, they may work towards Functional Skills, components of learning, recognised qualifications or RARPA targets.
The focus is on helping each student make meaningful progress, build independence and use maths more confidently in college, at home, in the community and in future work or training.
Levels
The Maths Qualifications are available from Entry Level 1 to Level 2.
Sites
Maths learning takes place within the wider Craftworks timetable and may be delivered in classrooms, practical areas and vocational settings.
This helps students connect maths skills to everyday life, work-related learning, independence and their own personal goals.
Pathways
At Craftworks College, we are aware that all our students progress at their own rate therefore our pathways adopt the waves model of intervention to enable all students to succeed from their individual starting points. Students capable of achieving a full qualification follow the Universal Pathway. Student that need their learning broken into smaller steps follow the Targeted Pathway, here they focus on one unit at a time and achieve Unit Accreditation. Students that require our Specialist Pathway have a bespoke timetable which breaks learning down into even smaller steps to ensure that they are able to achieve at their own specific level.
