Maths Does ‘Come Dine With Me’: A Delicious Twist on Learning
Our maths students explored budgeting, price comparison, and problem-solving through a fun ‘Come Dine With Me’-inspired project that blended real-life learning with creativity and teamwork.

Our maths students recently embarked on a creative and memorable learning experience inspired by the hit TV show Come Dine With Me. The project added a delicious twist to number work and problem-solving—proving that maths can be both practical and great fun.
The day began with lively discussions about famous chefs, favourite recipes, and dream dinner guests. Students shared brilliant ideas ranging from family members to supportive Craftworks staff, Disney characters, and even chart-topping musicians!
Learners then chose their favourite meal and listed all the ingredients needed to prepare it. This led to a shopping adventure—both online and in local shops—where students compared prices, tracked value for money, and learned that every penny counts when budgeting.
Back in class, they turned their research into tables and charts to compare costs, analyse price changes over time, and make informed decisions. It was a fantastic demonstration of how maths applies to everyday life, from cooking to financial awareness.
Our students worked incredibly hard and really impressed us. We’re proud of their enthusiasm, teamwork, and problem-solving skills throughout this project.
